{ The last month or so had been a black eye on the career of Shelly Diamond. Her daughter, Hayleigh and her had a big fight which was still unresolved. Then Shelly lost her IWF World Championship; through no fault of her own, mind you; in a fatal four way match where she was never pinned or submitted.
STILL UNDEFEATED!
To sitting in catering during IWF Sacrifice while Caroline Machado claims to be ushering in a new era of honor in women’s wrestling. Or catching it on the monitors when the Fenix sisters hijack a half an hour of television to suck each other off.
It’s all been downhill since Legacy.
Until this weekend.
The big event. }
The let’s all come together to pad Tara Fenix’s ego before it shreds itself at the seams like her blown out vagina Charity Extravaganza!!!
{ She’s very excited about it, to say the least. }
What a great name for an event. It really lets you know where you stand in the mind of Tara Fenix. And much like every man or woman she has a passing friendship with, it’s apparently beneath her.
{ Very excited. Which is why we find her in the basement gym of her above average Connecticut home. It’s nothing overly fancy, Shelly isn’t one of those people who makes their first million and goes out of their way to let you know they’ve made it. She bought a slightly newer house in a nicer community and amended it with all of her necessities. Namely all the work out equipment one would need to be considered the Best Ever in professional wrestling as well as Central Air. Central Air is a must during the humid Connecticut summer. }
Of course she couldn’t think of a better name. Something that would really hammer home the point of the event. Charity. Her ego wouldn’t allow that. She needed to let everyone know what they were paying for off the poster alone, like Tara has ever had the dignity to charge a John.
{ Shelly is currently working on a cardio routine, cardio being one of if not the most important aspect of a professional wrestlers game. Shelly loved playing the long game in her matches, really taking the time to break an opponent down over the grueling minutes, half hours and sometimes even hour plus before eventually putting them away with her patented finishing maneuver, the Tiger Driver 98. }
But you challenged her, Shelly! I can hear her little army of Twitter trolls madly clacking away at their screens and keyboards. Yeah, I did. Because I wanted to walk into her event and embarrass her.
{ As Shelly goes from a side roll to a burpee and rolls back we hear the basement door open and close. Shelly's daughter, Hayleigh comes walking down the steps in some sneakers, gym shorts and a cut off Angel Blake t-shirt. }
”I’m heading out.”
{ Shelly comes to a stop, wiping the sweat from her brow as she looks up at her daughter who is still very clearly upset with her. }
Again with this informing me bullshit.
”And where are you going?”
”Are we going to do this every time?”
{ Hayleigh asks in an incredibly annoyed tone of voice. }
”Just until you remember that I am in fact your mother.”
”Yeah, well maybe you should act like it.”
”Excuse me!?”
{ Hayleigh turns to head up the stairs but Shelly has her by the wrist before she even climbed a single step. }
”You know what!? I’ve had absolutely enough of this shit!”
{ Shelly yanked the arm of her daughter causing Hayeligh to stagger down to the basement floor. The mother and daughter pair both glaring at each other with absolute hellfire. }
”I don’t know when you woke up and decided I was somehow the devil but I am your mother and you will respect me!”
”Respect you!?”
{ Hayleigh ripped her arm free from her mother. }
”How the hell can I respect you after what you did against Caroline at Bloody Assizes!? Or the way you’ve acted ever since!? You went from being the best pure wrestler in the world to another empty headed, chicken shit heel!”
*SMACK!*
Oh god…
{ Hayleigh stood there for a moment, the red mark on her cheek slowly taking shape. A hint of a tear crept into her left eye but she didn’t break the stare, not even for a moment. }
”Really struck a chord there, didn’t I?”
”Hayleigh, I’m-”
”Sorry!? I don’t care!”
{ Hayleigh stepped toward her mother, all that training from Emma flooding back into her brain and before Shelly even knew what was happening, her daughter had her on the gym mat with a single leg take down. }
”Come on!”
Ok, so this is how she wants to do this? I’m game to teach her a lesson.
{ Shelly spun back to her feet. Mother and daughter locking up in the center of the basement. Hayleigh attempted a drop behind but the training just wasn’t there yet and Shelly quickly grabbed her in a side headlock and brought her down to the mat. }
”Is this what Tara is teaching you? How to be mediocre?”
{ Shelly released the headlock and let her daughter get back to her feet. The two of them squared off in a tie up. Shelly allowed Hayeigh to feel like she was getting control of the position. She even let Hayleigh bring her to the mat with a front waist lock take down. But once they were on the mat, Hayleigh made a positioning error with her right arm which allowed Shelly to kick her legs up and around it. Shelly slammed Hayleigh down into the gym mats and right into an armbar. }
”Come ooon!!!”
{ Shelly yells back, mocking Hayleigh’s earlier tone as she wrenched on the elbow and shoulder of her daughter. Hayleigh began to vigorously tap the mat but Shelly wanted to drive this lesson home as she wrenched just a little harder. }
*POP*
{ And with that little noise, Hayleigh let off the most awful scream her mother has ever heard. }
What did I just do?

What did I just do?
”I love how there’s always an excuse.”
“It was a count out, it was a disqualification, YOU WERE PREGNANT!”
”Who’s the bad mother, again?”
“There’s always an excuse as to why you’ve never been good enough to beat me, isn’t there, Tara? You always have to have some reason, some scapegoat. What’s it going to be this time? You weren’t fully recovered from pregnancy? You had covid? A hang nail??”
”Just admit I’ve been better than you.”
“It’s not that hard to tell the truth. You know it. I know it. The fans know it. Angel sure as hell knows it. You just can’t hang with me inside of that ring. I mean, look at the facts.”
“I was IWF World Champion for 385 days.”
“You couldn’t even make it to 100.”
“You lost the IWF World Title to Eternity.”
“Not only did I beat her for the IWF World Title, I retired her Harley Quinn wannabe ass back to whatever comic con she escaped from.”
“You couldn’t beat Rowan McDonnough?”
“I retired her too!”
“Your winning streak lasted a couple of months?”
”I still haven’t been pinned or submitted in an IWF ring.”
“The facts speak for themselves, Tara. No matter how you try to spin this. You can Alex Jones history all you want; the conspiracy theorist, not that horrible little Australian kid; but the tapes are there for anyone to watch.”
”I’m better than you.”
“I have been since the moment I laced up a pair of boots. I’ve had your number unlike any opponent you have ever faced in the storied history of your career. I’ve put you on your back more times than a Kane brother!”
”Sick. Burn.”
“But you still can’t seem to just admit what everyone else already knows. Shelly Diamond is The Best Ever. I’ve done things in my career, hell, I’ve done things in the span of 12 months most people couldn’t even begin to dream of doing in their whole career. And that includes you. I have the record you wish you had. I have the wins you wish you had. I had the World title run you wish you had.”
”I’m honestly starting to think you’re a little bit jealous.”
“I even had Angel before you did and back before he was a single sentence speaking painted up fucking monk with delusions of godhood.”
”Enjoy those sloppy seconds, by the way.”
“Of course you want to try and make this all about MY daughter and you by proxy training her. I’m sorry, Tara, that isn’t what this is about for me. This is about me proving one more, one final time to you and to everyone at home watching that I am beyond a shadow of a doubt better than you.”
“There will be no count outs. No disqualifications. No forfeits. We are fighting until there is a winner.”
“And there will be no goddamn excuses.”
“I don’t want to see you popping up on Twitter minutes after the match trying to rewrite history like last time. And let’s be clear, baby or no baby, I had your ass done for in our last match. When you walk to the back this time? It’ll be after I pinned both of your shoulders to the mat for a three count. There will be absolutely no denying the fact that you lost the biggest match of your career to the single Best Ever.”
”Do you understand?”
“This is beyond a personal grudge for me at this point. This is bigger than Angel, Hayleigh, our big fucked up happy family. Removing any inkling of doubt from your mind about who the better wrestler is has become my sole purpose in life. I eat, sleep and dream about the moment you finally relent and utter those inevitable words we are all waiting to hear.”
”Shelly, you’re better.”
“Because we know it’s coming. It’s only a matter of time. You’ve fought against the inevitable every which way you can think of but this little story of ours only has one ending and it’s the one where I come out on top. Because despite what your little Twitter army likes to think of you.”
”You’re the villain here.”
“Not me. I’ve only done what I needed to do to surpass you. And I have. Not just surpassed, I’ve lapped you four times over and left your little career in the dust. While you spend your free time running roughshod over every other promotion besides the IWF. I’ve spent my time absolutely dominating the one promotion where Tara Fenix is nothing but a footnote in EVERY HALL OF FAMERS CAREER!”
”Even some of the men.”
“And I know I’m not endearing myself to the fans out there and that’s fine. I’m supposed to pretend to be humbled to be here. Honored to represent the IWF at an event that is bringing together so many other promotions under one banner. And if it was literally anyone else besides Tara Fenix hosting the event, I would stand here and tell you how grateful I am to be here and performing in front of and with all of you.”
”But that bitch just rubs me the wrong way.”
“The fact some of you look that two faced little cunt in the eyes and think you see a friend just blows my mind. Tara Fenix has fucked over more people than Opec!”
“So no, I’m not going to stand here and try to endear myself to a crowd that believes Tara Fenix is some sort of godsend to professional wrestling. Her biggest contribution to this sport was not flushing Wraith down the toilet when that condom burst.”
”Just what the world needed. A more deluded Tara Fenix.”
“No, I’m going to step into this little charity event with my IWF flag held high and sing to the rafters the things I’ve accomplished there. I don’t need to wrestle everywhere she’s ever gone. I don’t need to win every title she’s ever won. Because I did what she could never do in one company. And if that makes me a villain?”
”Fine.”
“I don’t even care anymore. I stopped caring about what the crowd and the people in the back thought a long time ago. Unlike most of this current generation? The group think opinion of social media means less than nothing to me.”
”Hate me.”
“Hate me as I knock your great hero off her lofty pedestal and expose her for what she really is. A washed up has been who was always better at selling herself than actually performing. She’s a facade, a gimmick, an identity Tara puts on to make herself feel like she’s even bigger than the people she surrounds herself with. When in reality?”
”She’s always just been mid.”
“What makes Tara Fenix great is her ability to sell bullshit. To make all of you believe her mediocre accomplishments are somehow worth more than the sum of her parts. But when you really dig in and look into her past? Tara Fenix has never been the top athlete she portrays herself as.”
“She wasn’t the end all be all of the XHF. That was Spike Kane.”
“She wasn’t the leader of the pack in NCW. That was Zelda Knite.”
“She’s tied for the number ten spot for longest reigns as IWF World Champion.”
”TIED!”
“The best thing about her is the shit that falls out of her mouth and that is the realization everyone in the world is going to come to this weekend. I’m not just going to beat Tara Fenix, I'm going to expose her for the liar and fabricator she has always been. By the end of this show you’re going to see Tara Fenix in a light you’ve never seen her in before.”
“Humbled.”
“Humbled by my skill. Humbled by my prowess. Humbled by what it means and what it takes to actually live up to who you say you are. You can talk all the shit you like about me, Tara but the one thing you can never say is I’m a liar. I tell the one hundred percent truth whether it hurts someone's feelings or not. You know that.
“Nothing I’ve said today is a lie.”
“Not one single word of it.”
“I know you don’t like it. I know you hate to admit it. But after this weekend you will have no other choice but to come out and admit it! You will have no other choice than to humble yourself before your congregation and say what we’ve both known to be true.”
”I’m better.”
“And as badly as I want to prove that to you? There is someone even more important I need to prove that to.”
”Hayleigh.”
“I know we haven’t been getting along lately. I know I haven’t been the best mother. I know I’ve hurt you…”
“But I promise you, Hayleigh…”
“I’m going to win this match on skill alone. What you’ve seen from me since Bloody Assizes? I know that hasn’t been the best version of me. I let my ego get the better of me. I put glory before honor. I won’t do that again. I promise you.”
“You told me to act like your mother and I will…”
“I will step into the ring with Tara Fenix and I will give her my absolute best. There will be no cheating, no run ins, nothing! It will be her and I for as long as it takes until one of us has our shoulders pinned to the mat and Hayleigh?”
”After that? It’s done.”
“If you want her to keep training you? Then by all means. If you want to go live with your father? I will not stop you. But I will do everything in my power to fix our relationship. And if that means finally letting go of what’s between Tara and I? If that’s what you want? Then it’s over after this match.”
”I promise.”
“I haven’t been a great person lately. I’ve been an even worse mother. I can admit that. I know that. I’m not bigger than my own failings as a person. So, Tara, when I say you’ve been an excellent mother to my daughter you know I’m telling the truth.”
“Just like everything else I’ve said.”
“And you know when I promise this ends in Waikiki, it ends for me.”
“I will do absolutely everything in my power to beat you in the center of that ring, shoulders to the mat, for a full three count with no doubts. And after it’s all over?”
”I will embrace you.”
“I’ll say thank you for everything you’ve done for my family. And I’ll leave our past where it belongs.”
“But until then?”
”You’re mine, bitch.”
