Inside of a private studio, there are two couches set across from each other with a table between both of them. The lighting is well placed for the center of the studio where the two people of center attraction; Denzel Porter and Tara Fenix. Both of them were dressed professionally. Tara had a smile on her face as she shifted her gaze back and forth between Denzel and the audience. Meanwhile, Denzel opens with a greeting.
Denzel Porter: Thank you for tuning in with us on this day, and I do have a special guest here with me: a star of IWF, Fight! NYC, XWF, and Project: Honor, and of course the host of the event from this past October, the Tara Fenix Charity Cruise: Tara Fenix, herself!
Tara bowed her head down as a thanking gesture, and stretched her arms out along the back of the couch that she had been seated on.
Denzel Porter: Thank you for taking the time to take part in this interview. There have been quite a few rumors going on in regards to you, as well as you going into this match against Alex Jones at my own hosted event, the Denzel Porter Invitational, taking place this February. How have you been?
Denzel asked in a way to keep the interview casual.
Tara Fenix: Honestly, Denzel, I’ve been doing quite…splendid, actually. It seems like there’s a lot of things that are looking up for me, and I’m excited to keep going forward to see what’s coming next. What about yourself? I’m excited to be able to participate at your invitational, along with my two sons…albeit against each other.
Denzel Porter: I'm doing well today and excited for the event but let's talk about moments in your career and you have had many moments in your career. Any particular one that stands out to you?
Tara Fenix: One victory that stands out to me is still in 2009, when XHF returned after a hiatus. They put me against one of the most dominant champions of the time, and people were already counting me out… this is a man from the day that I debuted at XHF, so roughly 2001, had tormented me although back then he came at me to get at my ex-husband, and now here I was standing across the ring from this menace that was known for breaking people. And as you say, one moment to win a match; I did…choke him out with a chain, but it was a no disqualification, and that was the opportunity I needed to get myself back together. Fractured wrist, at his hands, and I was able to win.
Denzel Porter: What a satisfying victory that was for you and I'm sure you look forward to have another one in Las Vegas. Now let's talk about the future anymore Fenix Cruise Ship shows coming up?
Tara Fenix: I am going to be re-labeling it as the Tara Fenix Charity Events, because I will be honest… I am not 100% if there is going to be another cruise event, as of yet, but there will be more charity events! I do not have any dates lined up; I may wait for October to have the second annual event, but I have a new business partner to move forward with these events: XWFs own, Thaddeus Duke, has graciously assisted with the cost in creating a new arena located in Honolulu, Hawaii. We have crews working around the clock to ensure that it will be ready by as early as April, but it will be the home for the events moving forward. In the meantime, I have been eyeing a few people that I would love to see go into a dream match, whether they are a flash from the past, dream match of today, or rising stars for the future. I do have a few more ideas that I do need more time before unveiling, but you will be the first to know when these all come to fruition. But mark your calendars because the second Tara Fenix Charity event will take place in 2022!
Denzel Porter: Exciting news and can't wait to see how things go but Tell us how does it feel to have your sons going up against each other?
Tara does cringe for a moment about that thought.
Tara Fenix: That is a rough one, because Sabin is my biological firstborn son, but Dean is Angel’s son, and…as you may have heard…Angel and I have decided to give ourselves a second chance, so it does feel strange to root one way or another. Personally, I don’t like referring to Dean as my stepson; I don’t like referring to Damian as my step-grandson; legally speaking, that’s what they are, but personally…they are both mine. Both of them are extraordinary; for professional reasons, I would love to see Sabin take the win because I was his primary trainer…Angel, of course, did help when he was younger, but I did teach him. So it’d be great to see him pull off the big win, but it really is something to see them fighting each other, and something that I really don’t want to get into playing favorites on.
Denzel shakes his head in understanding, then looks down at his notes before looking back up.
Denzel Porter: Understandable no parent wants to pick against their children, so let's move on to you and Alex Jones upcoming match. How are you feeling about it?
Tara cocks her head to the side in contemplation before answering.
Tara Fenix: It’s strange, really. He and I have a long history going back almost as long as I’ve been doing this, and…I’m pretty sure I’ve beaten him in most of our encounters. I buried him alive. I took his World Championship. So in that regard, I am confident, but I did recently…have to get something off my chest that I have been carrying around for a long time, and it was just eating at me. I don’t know how he is going to react, but I can only guess how I would if I were in his shoes…he’s not the same as he was back then. Not physically, and I definitely don’t think mentally.
Denzel Porter: So safe to say you think you should be able to dominate this match?
Tara Fenix: I’d probably be the favorite, but none of the matches came easy and with what I told him, I can’t imagine that it may not fuel him.
Denzel Porter: So my sources have told me you had a private conversation with AJ?
Tara lets out a heavy sigh.
Tara Fenix: Yeah, it was just something I felt that I needed to share with him… I should’ve told him a long time ago. He did have the right to know. But… okay, for those who don’t know: Alex and I used to date. Things did get pretty serious between us but there were some complications with our relationship, and long story short, he chose another woman over me. Anyways… I never did tell him, but during that time I was pregnant with his child. But the way my life was at the time, I was just on the rise of my career, so I did what was best for my career. I couldn’t be a single mother to two kids; not at that time. So I did what was best for me. But I still felt guilt over just not telling him.
Denzel with a shocked facial expression looks into the camera then nods at Tara in understanding.
Denzel Porter: Well you had every right to make that decision and you were obviously in a tough place and if you have the strength can you tell us what his reaction was?
Tara Fenix: It was hard to gauge his reaction, but I don’t want to go into speculating what he may have been feeling. I think that’s something better left for him to explain for himself if he feels that he should. I did say my piece, and that’s all I can really do.
Denzel Porter: Yes indeed and I guess it was unfair of me to expect you to know what he was thinking but I can imagine it had to be tough to swallow, now let's talk 2022 as we've already discussed about you in The Invitational, Are there any other goals or places we can see you at in the new year?
Tara took a moment to clear her throat and shook her head as if to indicate that she had a short dizzy spell, but then resumed with a smirk on her face.
Tara Fenix: I don’t go anywhere without any intent of being at the top of the food chain. Whether I’m at FIGHT, IWF, Project: Honor, or XWF; I’m aiming for the top prize. This is year two of my return, and I want the fans to remember exactly what it is I can do, and why I’m the best at it. As far as places, I’ll negotiate to do some one-offs… there is one person in particular that I would love to face in the near future. Corey Black. That’s one thing I’ve done: I’ve created a list of people that I want to face before I retire, and that’s not a hint that retirement is coming anytime soon. I’m going to squelch that rumor right now: it’s not in the foreseeable future; however, it’s never too early to start crossing some names off the list. As far as places that you may want to see me… outside of one-offs, I’m exactly where I want to be.
Denzel looks at Tara with an interesting look.
Denzel Porter: I must say you and Corey Black are a dream match in my eyes and I hope one day you two can make it happen, but let's talk about these retirement rumors, When did these rumors start up on you?
Tara Fenix: Oh no, no rumors have really circulated about it, but you know it’s just one of those forbidden words. The moment you talk about the end, people are already speculating. I just want to be able to squash those rumors before anyone tries to turn this into a wildfire.
Denzel Porter: Those are true, once you start talking about the list and crossing off names people feel like you're ready to walk off into the sunset but good to know that's not any time soon.(Denzel gives a wink) So any New Year resolutions for you going into the new year?
Tara Fenix: When I’m done with one list, I’m just going to create another. (Tara gave a light laugh under her breath.) As far as resolutions, there is someone in particular that I owe the beating of a lifetime to… Rowan. For those that didn’t catch it, so far she’s beaten me twice when I swear that I could beat her. There will be a future match, and I’m certain about that, but I’m going to state it right here, and right now: if I lose a third time to her in a one-on-one contest, I will walk away from IWF. It will be her domain. She will have no challenge from me. But that’s if…she can best me for a third time. My resolution is to make her tap. But that’s on the business side of things, so let’s go ahead and talk about the personal resolutions in which case the only thing I can do is want to be a better mother to all of my children, and spoil my grandson every chance I get.
Denzel Porter: It's always good to have a rival that can push you to be better and I'm sure that's what Rowan is doing to you and the moment you finally beat her will be a moment for everyone and I love the effort to always want to be better in life.
Denzel looks down at his watch and then back to his notes before looking up.
Denzel Porter: Well Tara I want to thank you for your time and letting me get this must see an interview with you. You were a great take and can't wait to sit down with you again in the future.
Tara Fenix: Hopefully sooner rather than later. Thank you for inviting me.
Tara answered with a sincere smile and a slight bow.
END.
