The scene starts looking over the streets of New York City. It’s a grey, dull, slightly damp looking day in the city. Cars are driving up and down the streets doing their normal afternoon routines. The camera then pans to a building with a sign on top reading “Softball Night Wrestling Academy”. After a few seconds, we see the figure of Veronica Rachelle move in front of the camera, showing her looking up at the building and the sign.
Veronica Rachelle This is where it all started, for both of us.
Veronica takes another look at the exterior of the building before walking towards and through the front door. The building is mostly empty, apart from a couple of cleaners who are tidying up the rooms after a busy day of training.
Veronica Rachelle This is where we both got our foot in the door. If anything, you were the first trainee of this school, whereas I came in about a year later, but we both had the same experiences and goals in this building.
As Veronica walks through the corridors of the building, she sees a few photos on the walls of past students, including herself and her upcoming opponent, Hayley Fien. She then sees a group photo of one of the classes, where she sees herself and Hayley sitting side by side.
Veronica Rachelle We both came here with the same goals, we both wanted to come here to learn from the best and in turn, we came here to become the best.
Veronica Rachelle I remember you welcoming me in here. You were one of the first people that I got to truly know after I moved here. You helped me through a lot of rocky days during my first few months of training. When others would have told me I wasn’t ready, you pushed me, and for that I thank you.
Veronica then walks into the main hall of the building, where there are several pieces of gym equipment scattered around the room, while two wrestling rings sit in the middle of the hall.
Veronica Rachelle After we both left here, we both took our own paths, with both of us getting our own share of success. However, there just seems to be something that just keeps bringing us back together.
Veronica then hops into the ring and tests the ropes out.
Veronica Rachelle We’ve faced off twice before, and even though in both of those encounters I’ve come out on top, I’m not going to get too confident over it. I know how good you are, I know how much effort you put into every match, and I know how bad you want to succeed.
Veronica takes another look around outside the ring, looking around at the gym, bringing back memories of her training with Hayley.
Veronica Rachelle We both went through a lot here. We’ve pushed ourselves as hard as we could to show just how good we can be. We both went through hell, but we helped each other up every time we got knocked down. We’ve been to war together, both inside and outside the ring.
Veronica Rachelle I have a lot of respect for you, and I’m proud to call you a good friend of mine. But I know we both have the same thing in mind here. We both want to win, and win badly. We want to show just how good this place has treated us, how good it has prepared us for every eventuality. We both have a point to prove, to ourselves and to each other. We want to know who the better woman is, and this will be the time to truly find out.
Veronica then quickly hops out of the ring and back onto the floor as she starts walking out of the building.
Veronica Rachelle No hard feelings, but we have to put our friendship aside here. We both want the same thing, we both have the same goal, but only one of us can get to that point. Unlike what some people would like to think, I’m not ‘all show and no go’. I bust my ass every day to get where I am right now, You’ve seen me do that for a while. I’ve done everything that I can to prove to people that I am as good as I say I am. You’ve seen me do that too. I’ve seen you do the exact same thing, trying to prove that you’re as good as you say you are, and prove that you can be a big name. You’re getting there, but I’m not going to be a doormat and just let you walk over me so you can get the spotlight.
Veronica looks back at the photos on the wall as she walks down the corridor.
Veronica Rachelle That’s one of the main things they taught us here: Never to back down from anything, even if it’s a friend. In those ropes, when that bell rings, friendships mean nothing. It’s a matter of winning and losing, taking the shot or being taken out, being a success and a failure. When we stand against each other in that ring, I have one thing in mind: winning.
Veronica Rachelle Hayley, I want you to bring your best. I want you to bring as much passion as you did in those training sessions all that time ago. Show me just how much this means to you. How much fighting for your charity is for you, and how much being declared the winner means to you.
Veronica Rachelle I won’t be backing down, I’m going to show you just what I can do, what all that training has caught me, how much of a fire it has burned inside me, and how much I want this. Only one of us can win, and if I have to do every bit of my powers to make sure you stay down for that three count to prove a point, so be it. Bring everything that you’ve got, because I’m not expecting anything less.
Veronica steps through the main door of the school before taking a few more steps outside before looking back at the building one more time.
Veronica Rachelle Let’s make Meagan and Sarah proud of us. See you on the 30th.
