“Do you remember this place, Tara?”
The camera fades into an empty room. Mats laid out and athletic equipment and machines sitting everywhere neatly placed where they should be. It was obviously a gym, though the squared circle sitting in the middle of the building made it evident that it was a wrestling gym. MYOJIN stared at the ring, their hands in the pockets of their hoodie as they looked around the building. There was a thoughtful, pleased expression on their face as their eyes took in everything around them- before their vision slowly made it to a shelf against the wall, sitting with multiple accolades and awards from generations of students who had trained at the gym. Championship belts, golden little statues, the history of the place were evident from how decorated it was by its many talented alumni. On the wall, there were multiple pictures of different classes over the years. The Shining Star began to walk toward them.
“I hope you do. I know that you've trained a lot of people over the years, and this was not the first- and probably not the last place you ever had students… But this, Tara? This is where we first met. Plenty of years ago, this exact building is the same one where you had taken me and a bunch of other students under your wing. Though, I kind of like to think that I was your favorite.”
A brief smile flashed on the blonde's face. Project: Honor's X-Factor Champion walked closer toward the many pictures on the wall, going to one from the year 2014- where it showed the many wrestlers and their trainees, including MYOJIN and Tara.
“I thought that I'd revisit this place before our match upcoming soon, given that it's where this really all started for me. You know, I've heard a lot of talk recently about how this gym was going to be closing down soon- all these memories in a few months are going to go away forever, and I just thought I'd be a little sentimental.”
The Shining Star then walked back toward the ring, rolling under the apron- and walking to the middle of the mat. They observed the entire gym around them- and it was almost like they could imagine it was a crowded building like it was back then, with the many friends and rivals they had made during their time in becoming a professional wrestler.
“So soon enough, on your Charity Cruise, you and I? We're going to be facing each other in the ring, one on one for the first time ever. At first, I had originally been confused as to why you would want to pick me of all people as your opponent for your birthday- but after a little time, I think I get it. We're wrestlers, we communicate by battle- we wear our hearts on our sleeves with our fighting spirits, and who better to face in a dream match than arguably your greatest student?” MYOJIN winked, a smirk appearing on their face.
“Arrogant, I know. But you can't deny, you've seen how far I've come yourself. You've seen how much I have grown and continue to grow. 2021 has been my year, and I completely get it- we thrive on competition and raising the bar. And right now? I'm just about the closest thing to an equal that you have, maybe even superior."
“You have seen me grow. You've trained me from day one and helped me become the fighter that I am today- and for that, I'm forever grateful. You matter a lot to me both as a friend and a mentor, and while I hope your birthday will be absolutely wonderful- You know that I'm not the type that will hold back just because I like you. You know that I aim to win every single match I'm in and will always bring a fight. I am VERY dangerous- and none of that will change come the moment we face each other, Tara. I'm going to fight with everything I have to put you down- even if your wellbeing does matter greatly to me.”
“You taught me a lot and I look up to you, but that's exactly why I have to beat you. You and I both know that I've become more than just another one of your apprentices. You didn't teach me everything that I know- and you're the measuring stick for me to see if I still have a long way to go, or if the student has finally become the master. This means everything to me just as I know it does to you- and someday, we're both going to laugh about this match- but once we enter that squared circle? I'm going to do my best to tear you apart, and you better do the same if you want to win.”
“So, give me your all. Show me that an old dog can learn new tricks- no offense. I want the absolute best from you, Tara- and in turn, I will give you the same. Either way, though, while I want to win- this fight is much more than just about winning or losing. While I know the both of us are going to be extremely competitive, once it's over- I'm still going to shake your hand. I'm still going to wish you a happy birthday, and then we can go grab some cake.” MYOJIN's confident smile turned more genuine as they leaned against the ropes, staring at the many nostalgic things that the building held.
“...It'd truly be a shame to see this place go. That's why.. I don't think I'll let it. I'll buy it, get it back in shape and bring new students to the fold eventually- to do the same for them what you've done for me.”
“See you soon, Tara. This will be fun.”
